Thanks for writing this question. So many people still believe that somehow sperm has all this power. It is actually very fragile and without the warm, wet moisture of both semen and the inside of the vagina, sperm cannot survive. That is why there are several hundred MILLION in every ejaculation.
There is NO WAY that sitting on a chair fully clothed, that semen with sperm in it can find its way to the vagina. First, it doesn't have radar to tell it which way to go. It must be placed in the vagina, and even then most of it gets lost and can't find its way up the uterus and into the fallopian tubes. It cannot swim through anything cotton or denim. It has no power.
It is the semen that keeps it alive but not for long, and certainly only a few seconds outside the body. It needs the warm, moist environment to even survive what's more be moved toward the reproductive tract.
I hope this helps understand that sperm really isn't able to do much outside of the body. Please feel free to write and ask other questions if you have them.Reviewed by Sexual Health Editorial Team
