What a good question. It usually takes anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Sperm has many places it can get temporarily delayed on its travel up the vagina, through the cervix, into the uterus and all the way through the Fallopian tube to the outer third. It must be protected first by semen, and then find enough moisture to swim the remainder of the way. It probably takes an hour or more in most individuals. It is hard to measure how long it really takes because we can't see inside the body. We know how fast it can swim in laboratory conditions but not in every person's body.
