Hi I've been searching around the net and I was wondering if the flu/cold can throw off a girl's period. As in make it lighter and shorter. Thank you =)

Great question. Yes, being ill with either the flu or a cold can throw off a girl's period. Any kind of illness affects the way our body's hormones interact. Our periods are affected by hormone releases and changes. Illness impacts on those changes to some degree, just as change in body weight, heavy exercise, stress and other behaviors may.

Not all women are affected by having a cold, but some will be.
