Question:
I have two problems but the first concerns me the most.

1) A few weeks ago (maybe about three now) I used a tampon thinking my period was heavier than it was and when I took it out it was almost dry and hurt badly. And this was all I had so I thought it might pick up later on in the day and used another. But it came out dry as well. The tampons felt as if they were irriating the skin also, afterwards I thought that perhaps it would feel better if I used a douche (I dont know why) and it burned even worse and since then I have had many problems. For one it kind of burns when touched, its a little red and sore and another problem is that I used to use a dildo quite easily and now I cant even use two fingers, it begins to burn as if I am streching too far whereas before my period I had no problems. And my periods are very irregular.

My other problem is that the skin that covers the clitoris (Im not sure what its called) that comes down on the sides hangs lower on my sex. I rememberI pulled it once when I was 11 and it has never gone back correctly. It is about maybe an inch or so lower than my sex and I have been to the gynocologist and he never mentioned it. Should I get this removed or is this normal?

Thank you for sahring your concern with Sexual Health.

If you are barely bleeding, the tampon will absorb vaginal secretions, leaving your vagina very dry; this makes it uncomfortable when the tampon is removed. It may even pick up small pieces of vaginal lining also. For light flow, you are better off using a minipad or panty liner. Avoid using the super-absorbent tampons!

The vaginal douche contains chemicals and therefore worsens the irritation of the vagina which is raw. This raw surface may also have picked up an infection causing further problems to you. Please have yourself examined by a gynecologist immediately. S/he will also look into the causes of irregular periods.

I could not understand your second question. I guess you are referring to the inner vaginal lips (which join on top of the clitoris). It is common for one lip to be larger (or hang lower) than the other. It is not of any significance and need not be removed, unless you feel terribly upset by or conscious of it. But please do ask your physician about this too, as I only guessed that it is the inner lip that you are asking about.
