Question:
I am disturbed. Tonight I studied web pages about female ejaculation, found an instructional site, and tried it for the first time. I made sure to empty my bladder first and then masturbated while on the toilet. To my amazement, I ejaculated. Problem is, it was bloody. There was about half a cup of red water that shot out all over my hand and all over in the toilet. I'm wierded out. I came back to the computer to search about this and could find nothing. I went to pee a little bit later and it wasn't bloody at all. Which leads me to believe that in fact I had ejaculated and not urinated. I don't know if my taking depo-provera has anything to do with the blood. Does anyone know anything about the blood?

Hi and thanks for your question. First, I think it's great that you have been exploring your sexuality in this way and that you were able to ejaculate. Congratulations! However, I can also understand your concern (and probably fright!) at having a bloody ejaculation. I am not a medical doctor and could only speculate on what occurred (you may have broken blood vessels in your urethra which may account for the blood, but again I'm only guessing). Therefore, I think you should see a medical professional to talk about what a bloody female ejaculation might mean. I am suggesting to our editorial board that this question be looked at by Dr. Beverly Whipple. She is another expert here on SexualHealth.com, and one of the foremost experts on female ejaculation. In addition you may want to look at her profile on the experts page of this site and see if she has any direct contact information; she may be able to direct you to a friendly health care provider in your area. The AASECT website (www.aasect.org) may also be able to help you find a provider in your area. Have you had blood in your ejaculation any other times that you have tried to ejaculate? I can understand if you have been scared to try, but that may be helpful information for whomever you see for help. Good luck to you, and I hope everything turns out well. Take care, M. Scott Gross
