Question:
I was diagnosed with HPV and had moderate cervical dysplasia about a year and a half ago. I had LEEP and have been getting PAPs every six months. According to my doctors everything has healed well. My PAPs are still abnormal (even after the LEEP) but the doctors told me that would go away. My question to you is this: Sometimes when I have sex it is slightly painful in the area of my cervix (feels like pressure), also the day after sex I feel bloated and crampy. What is causing this? I just had a PAP and exam last month and have had the same partner the whole time. Thank you!

Thanks for writing in. The only thing's my mind is coming up with with the information you provided is perhaps your cervix is being bruised (yes you can bruise your cervix) by your partner continuesly banging into it. Or, you might be allergic to his sperm (causing the bloating and cramping). But it sounds more like cervix bruising to me. That would explain why it only happens here and there, because if your partner isn't hitting your cervix (which feels just like the tip of your nose) you wouldn't get any pain, bloating or cramping. My advice, don't allow him in so deep. When you feel him hit something and he can't go any further, tell him to back it up and stop pounding into you. Some positions make it easier to hit the cervix, doggy style for instance. Some make it less likely to hit the cervix, woman on top/cowgirl would be one. Cowgirl allows you to control how deep he goes, so this might be something you want to try out. Plus, most men love seeing their partners on top of them, visual creatures that they are! :) I'm going to pass this on for another expert to have the opportunity to put their two cents in also, just in case I'm missing something. Good Luck and happy riding! Megan Andelloux
