Question:
I have been thinking that I may have HPV, I have a lot of visible spots, only visible when I have an erection. I have just noticed some largish brown blotches. I have one on my penis and a few more beside my penis, on my legs. I am normally 100% healthy and this has me worried. Thanks.

Hello, thank you for your question. The spots you describe could be anything from harmless skin pigment changes (like a freckle) to a fungal infection. It sounds odd that the spots are only present when you have an erection. Should you have Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) the lesions, or warts would be clearly visible on the skin, usually around the upper portion of the penis, near the head and on the lateral or anterior surfaces of the penis. To be certain it isn't HPV, herpes or any else, I suggest you pop along to your local doctor who can do a skin scraping, and a blood test to find out what the problem is, and therefore the most effective treatment, and most certainly to put your mind at ease. Best Wishes, Melissa BEE
