Question:
I have had a sore throat and peach colored bumps on the inside of my cheeks facing my teeth on all four sides for the past 4 weeks. My primary care doc said it was possibly oral HPV. I saw a ear, nose and throat specialist last week and he said it was herpes simplex. My mouth/throat is irritated and burns but not unbearably so whereas I can still swallow and eat. He said it would go away by now and no treatments were offered. I have no fever, congestion, or cough indicitave of an infection. What could this really be? How long does oral herpes last?

Given you've been diagnosed by a physician, it is highly likely that you do have oral herpes. If you doubt the diagnosis you got, look into getting a second opinion.
Herpes outbreaks usually last a few days to 3 weeks. Zovirax ia an anitviral drug that promotes the healing and relief of herpetic sores, and that shortens the duration of the outbreak. Perhaps another physician would be willing to give your condition more attention and treatment. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network.
