Question:
I'm a 22 year old male, I have always had protected sex and with only one girl which was a girlfriend from a long while ago. about six months ago, I was drunk at a bachelor party and recieved oral sex from a street prostitue. I have developed red bumps that come and go in the area around my penis with white heads as well as a prickly discomfort in my penis. I seem to have recently had similiar ones on the edges of my eyelids and a couple of pimple like ones that didn't progress like pimples around my mouth- did I spread an std? the first one was where my inner thigh meets my groin and it formed over a cut that came from scratching an area I shaved. The bump was red, it left and then came back, then left again. the others were later and small- close to the base of the penis. The latest one is larger, darker red, was filled with pus(like a large pimple) but is getting smaller and a little crusty around the edges. A doctor and two nurses at two seperate std clinics have looked at the small ones and said they don't think they are herpes, but I never felt as though any of them were thorough enough. I am very concerned and feel as though I can never again have a normal love life with a nice girl.

Based on what you describe, I am surprised that the professionals you saw did not think your condition could be genital herpes. Symptoms of herpes include: -painful, reddish bumps, sores, or lesions that can be tender and itchy - these bumps may become blisters or sores, filled with pus - burning urination -fever -headaches -painful, swollen glands -feeling of pressure in the abdomen Have you been tested for herpes at either of these clinics? If not, you should go back and demand to be tested, or seek out a new clinic. Regardless of whether or not you have herpes, it sounds as though you have a condition that needs better attention. If your condition is herpes, there are medications available to help alleviate the symptoms. Furthermore, with the right medication and/or healthy lifestyle, people infected with herpes can keep the virus and its outbreaks under control, and can have fulfilling sex lives with their partners. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network. Yvonne K. Fulbright, MS.Ed.
