Question:
Several years ago, I started getting a couch which seemed to be alergy related. Over the years it has gotten worse and I am in the process of getting it checked out. My question is this. Can an upper respiratory infection (which might be the cause of my coughing problem) be transmitted either to or from during oral sex? Such as could I have gotten this from giving oral sex to a woman, or could this be spread to a woman and give her some sort of infection problem?

Air borne, environmental allergies resulting in upper respiratory infections are not transmitted in the same manner as non-air borne vaginal yeast infections or other sexually transmitted infections & diseases (STI/STD). Oral sex certainly can pass on STD, including yeast, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, Herpes simplex virus (HSV), hepatitis B & C and of course HIV. Other orally transmissible STD include human papillomavirus (HPV), salmonella & hepatitis A from oral-anal contact. Yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans. Many of us have Candida in our mouth without symptoms. Symptoms can include inflammation of the mouth, vulva, vagina, head of the penis & foreskin often with a cottage cheese-like white discharge present.
If you find that your cough is a result of air borne allergies you will probably be advised that the best method is to avoid contact with the allergens that cause irritations & such reactions as upper respiratory infections. You mentioned under other information that you’ve had oral sex with several girlfriends, all of whom had what appeared to be vaginal yeast infections. Please consider learning more about safe(r) sex practices to avoid contact with all the STD mentioned above. Thanks for using our website!
