A Bartholin's gland cyst can be left alone if it's not infected or bothering you. If it is bothering you it can be surgically removed in a procedure called a marsupilization. Usually, this only requires same day surgery (and you're home the same day)with a few days recuperating at home--or--some Drs. place a special device called a Ward cathetar into the gland (right in the doctors office) and let it heal by itself. this takes several weeks, but does not require bedrest or anything. Talk to your gynecologist about these and other options.
