Question:
I'm concerned that I am passing a Yeast infection to my partner. Over the past several years I've had 3 girlfriends. All have come down with a yeast infection at different times. The most recent girlfriend it happened after our first sexual contact. She had not had sex in 3 years and she thinks I may have been the cause. I did perform oral sex on her and I wonder if I may have passed it to her that way. How and what should I do to see if I'm passing this on to my sex partners?

You will need to see a doctor. The doctor will take some samples for examination and culture (from body fluids, say salive and may be tip of penis...) On all cases, the treatment will usually be in the form of some simple capsules or tablets. Editors note: Good for you for taking charge of this situation. Yeast infections, while not a huge deal, can be a real hassle and discomfort to deal with. As suggested above, get in to the doctor and get it checked. And, commendations to you for being responsible about controlling the back-and-forth transmission that can go on indefinitely if not resolved. Patricia Fawver,Ph.D.
