Question:
Hi, I am a 17 year old male and I desperatly need someone to alliviate my worries. Okay, last night my girlfriend and I were dry humping as usual, her with a pai or boy shorts on and a shirt, and me in only my boxers. I had eqaculated prior to this experience but it was early in the morning around noon and this was around two thirty in the morning and I had peed several times before hand and dirctly before this incident. WE were dry humping and then we started to get really into it and things were getting kind of serious. However, I had my boxers turned to the left so that there would be no chance it could accidently slip out. We were going at it pretty hard and suddenly it felt different, and a lot better, and we both were going crazy. When I finallly pulled out, I am fairly certain I did not ejzculate, we both looked at each and realized that it had gone in all the way and we had just inadvertently had sex. I was not so sure that I had, I mean sure it felt different and really good but she was CERTAIN that it had happened. Then I got really nervous and looked down at my boxers and her shorts (no underwear on underneath. Hers were extremely wet and on the spot of my boxers where I had penetrated, there was a huge white mass of what I was afraid was my cum. However, it was on the outside and it was only wet on the inside, without the weird texture it had on the outside. There were other spots on my pants which I also assumed were from her and then there were some really big wet spots from me. So of course I became frantic and seriously worried aout whether she could get pregnant from this incident. Also, after we had been done for a little while, she went pee and changed her shorts just in case there was any of my ejaculate on them. So my questions are:

Could she be pregnant from this incident If so what are the chances?

Please respnd A.S.A.P. since I am GOING OUT OF MY MIND WITH WORRY!!!!!!!!

Also, she is scheduled to have her period today (continuation of the 2:30 am day) and I was wondering if that would have any effect, and if she could indeed be pregnant, how long can you wait to take the morning after pill to be sure that it is effective?

Thanks agian and I really appreciate all the work you do here!

Hi and thanks for your question. Also, thank you for giving so many details about your situation because that makes it so much easier for us here to give you more accurate and detailed answers. Despite all of your information, I am still a little confused about a couple of things. Somehow the two of you managed to have intercourse through a pair of boxers and her pair of boy shorts? That doesn't sound very comfortable, and from the other information you gave I am going to assume that her shorts somehow slipped out of the way. The short answer is that your chances of getting pregnant from this situation are pretty low. You pretty much ruled out any chance of sperm being in your precum by peeing right before you started dry humping and it being so long from the time you last ejaculated. Also, you are fairly certain that you did not ejaculate inside of her (you want to be really certain though), and it sounds to me that the white stuff on the outside of your boxers was some of her vaginal lubrication that had been frothed up by the friction of your actions (pretty common for a lot of women, especially at different periods of their cycles). Finally, with her being so close to her period, that can reduce the risk of pregnancy, but it does NOT eliminate it. Unprotected intercourse during a woman's period is no guarantee that she won't get pregnant, but the risk is slightly lower. Finally, you also asked about emergency contraception [EC]. You can take EC up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse, but the sooner you take it the more effective it is at preventing pregnancy. Any time you aren't sure of all the details of a situation like this, you may want to get EC and take it. The side effects can be unpleasant (which is why people don't use it as a regular birth control method), but it won't hurt you for a little peace of mind. If you're unsure of where to go, you can always call 1-888-NOT-2-LATE toll free to find a nearby location where you can get a prescription for EC. I hope this alleviates some of your worry and that the two of you be safe and take care of yourselves. All the best, M. Scott Gross
