Ask a Question
Question:
Dear Dr. Larry Siegel:
I want to tell you again how much I appreciate your expertise, which you share generously with me one time before, your time and understanding.
If I may, I want to ask one more question about adolescent sexuality, and I would be very grateful if you can clarify this to me. I apologize in advance for such an “open” question, but I think that you, as the Sex Educator, receive many “explicit” questions.
According to some books, the majority of men masturbate using the hand, and
only the minority of men masturbate by friction of the penis against a pillow, a bed,
etc. According to the same literature, the rubbing the penis against a pillow and a bed is aanother common practice especially for adolescence, which simulates intercourse.
I am wondering: is friction against a pillow considered a normal and healthy masturbatory technique for boys and men? And which masturbatory method is better for the sexual well being: by hand or rubbibg the penis against a bed, a pillow, etc.?
Once again, thank you so much for your knowledge, kindness and willingness to educate people and clarify some issues of human sexuality. I hope to receive your clarification.
With warm regards

Hello again! Thank you so much for the kind words. It's nice to hear that this is really helping people... As far as masturbation goes, whatever feels good is ok! There is really no way that is any better than another, nor is there any way the is more healthy than another (well, sandpaper and sharp objects may not be a good idea...). Men pleasure themselves in a variety of ways. Some use their hand and or hands, some rub against the bed or a pillow. Several masturbation techniques simulate intercourse in their own way. I'm including a couple of helpful links for you. They are sites that give you a number of different masturbation techniques. Use and enjoy whatever you do. Remember, too, that just because it's self pleasuring doesn't mean we don't have a variety of positions and methods to choose from.
Hope this is useful. Take care and have fun.
Larry
