To avoid getting pregnant, you will want to keep sperm away from the opening of your vagina. Avoid any activity that would place sperm in or around your vagina. For example, avoid putting your finger or your partner's finger into your vagina if it has any recently ejaculated sperm on it. Consider wiping semen off your body with a tissue or paper towel before you shower. How long sperm can live outside the human body depends on temperature and other conditions to which the sperm are subjected to (e.g., humidity).
