You will need to find a water-based lubricant that will wash off and out of the body easily. You can use a brand by Johnson and Johnson called KY. There are other brand names by other companies such as Astroglide. You can look in the pharmacy for any lubricant that a mother might use if she was to put it on the thermometer she puts into the baby's rectum to take a temperature.
