Thanks for asking a question to Sexual Health.
What you have described is called a 'fracture' of penis. Surprised? Well, even if the penis does not have a bone, a penis can actually 'fracture'! When a man is sexually aroused, blood flowing into the erectile tissue of the penis makes it bloat and produce an erection. A tough covering encases the erectile tissue and it is tightly stretched during erection. If excessive pressure is applied on this sheath, it tears. When this occurs, blood escapes from the erectile tissue causing pain and swelling. During vigorous thrusting if the penis slips out and gets misdirected to hit the pelvic bone of the woman, a fracture can occur. In the woman-on-top posture, she can accidentally sit on an erect penis whilst thrusting causing a fracture. A small tear will cause pain that may not require emergency attention but a large tear will make a man run to the emergency room.
In your case the tear was probably small but it may have caused fibrosis so it would be better if you see an urologist to assess the degree of damage and the best treatment options. Reviewed by: Scott Gross M. Ed.
