Based on your description, it sounds like you have a normal sized penis. You might find it interesting to know that “smaller” penises grow more into an erection than “larger” penises — in other words, the erection cancels out some differences in flaccid penis size. Girth among penises also varies. There is no reason to believe that you have an intersex condition. It sounds like you are a normal, healthy male. If you wish, you could always see a medical doctor to confirm this. I suspect that the problem here is your anxiety or worry about your penis. Consider this: Would you want to date someone who only cares about your penis size? I hope not—I’m sure there is more to you as person. (This would be like only dating women who have a certain breast size.) I suggest you do some work on your body image and getting more comfortable with your overall physical appearance—your penis and everything else. When it comes to sex and penis size (in terms of length and girth), it really is “how you use it” as the saying goes. Also, there is so much more to sex (and relationships) than physical body parts, what size they are, and how they are used. Editors note: I am curious as to why you asked if you were intersexed. Was that based on your penis size alone? If so, then please take heed of the information written above. If there are other reasons why you asked that question, then I would suggest you see a qualified gender therapist to evaluate any transgendered feelings you may have. Patricia Fawver, Ph.D. , editor
