Question:
Hello Doctor, my problem is this. I am a mostly healthy, normal male. No allergies, disabilities. I once took Zyban, well twice actually and suffered sexual side effects. Zyban uses Wellbutrin a common anti-depressant, which has caused varying levels of impotency in men using the drug. I found this out too late. I has been quite some time since my last dose, however I am experiencing weak erections, sometimes getting it up and then having it go right back down unless a LOT of attention is supplied it. I was hoping you could recommend a course of over-the-counter drug therapy that I could use to increase vascular blood flow to my penis and help with these rather upsetting sexual problems. Also as a side note, I have never been happy with the size of my penis, but can neither afford or believe the outrageous ads on the net that promise everything I want but are very difficult to track down or even contact, let alone afford. Is there are safe, convenient way to increase the size/ability of my penis? Herbal stuff, medication, masturbation technique? Anything? Electro-Therapy?? Desperate for some intelligent and trustworthy help in Canada

Zyban contains bupropion hydrochloride (Wellbutrin is an earlier trade name) and it's side effects given in the Physicians Desk Reference on the Urogenital system are: Frequent was urinary frequency. Infrequent were impotence, polyuria, and urinary urgency. Also observed were abnormal ejaculation, cystitis, dyspareunia, dysuria, gynecomastia, menopause, painful erection, prostate disorder, salpingitis, urinary incontinence, urinary retention, urinary tract disorder, and vaginitis. So you see, impotence was an uncommon side-effect. But in your case, I presume you took Zyban because you are a cigarette smoker wanting to quit smoking …. and this you have not mentioned in your letter. Hence in your case, if you are a smoker, I would attribute the problem of weak erections to smoking and NOT Zyban. If you continue to smoke I would very strongly advise you to stop smoking and start regular exercise (in case you are not doing so). There is no medication/method/gadget that can increase penis size. But I can confidently say that exercise, losing weight (especially abdominal fat …. if you are obese) will surely make your penis look big! Further if you quit smoking, you will notice that your erections will be stronger too.
