Question:
is masturbation harmful in any way? I wanna stop..........what should I do?
|
Answer: by Konstance McCaffree: ()
You really have two questions here so let me answer them one at a time. Masturbation is really not harmful. In fact, it is very healthy for you. It stimulates the heart, lungs, blood vessels and if you have an orgasm/ejaculation it releases endorphins into the blood stream that create muscle relaxation and diminishing of joint pain. It is also healthy for your reproductive system to keep it working.
The second part of your question is about you wanting to stop. It seems that thinking about sex so much is disturbing you, and you feel you need to masturbate when the sexual feelings get overwhelming. I think this may be a common feeling for many men since there are certainly lots of sexual stimuli. You can either look at this as if it is unhealthy or you can realize that sexual feelings and stimulation are a part of life. It doesn't hurt to masturbate daily or even more often than that. If masturbation is keeping you from doing your work, or school learning, or you can't have friendships because all you do is masturbate then you may want to find ways to have a life with LESS masturbation -but there really isn't any harm in sexual feelings and relieving them.
I guess in order for me to answer any more, I need more help on why you think it is harmful to you.Reviewed by: Patricia Fawver Ph.D. in Sexology
