Question:
I am a 19 year old male and I have been masturbating four times a week on the average since I was 12 years old. Here are my two questions: 1) After I masturbate I feel pain in my knees as if the semen has come out of the lubricating gel between my knee joints and caused that pain. Could this be true and how could I replace the loss of that lubricating gel? 2) I read that about 50% of men feel guilty after masturbating, I am one of them. And the fact that I am a Muslim and come from Saudi Arabia adds to my guilty feeling since masturbating is against Islam. After this long-term addiction, how can I possibility quit masturbating in any way, whether with medication or anything else? I would greatly appreciate your response. Thank You.

Masturbation is a completely normal behavior practiced by 99% of men. There is no physical harm related to masturbation and it is not possible that masturbation would be responsible for your knee pains. On the other hand, psychological concerns or stress may be associated with various physical complaints that need to be evaluated by a physician or a qualified therapist. I wouldn’t advise you to seek treatment that would inhibit your normal sexual desire. However, your guilty feelings need to be addressed and treated by a qualified therapist.
