Question:
We have just started a role play - my wife, very sweetly whispered to me that I would not be allowed to use my lips ie no kissing during this roleplay.

The sex was great for both of us - My question is I am curious to know the significance of her requesting that no lips were to be used during our game. ( normally we kiss very passionatly)

The best person to answer this question is - your wife. May be whilst doing the role-play she does not want to be passionate with that role...she probably has reserved her passion just for you? Ask her and find out!
