Question:
Hi, I hope you guys can help me! I recently gave my boyfriend a handjob. afterwards i went in the bathroom and washed my hands twice with soap and water. then I changed my pad. After I did this, i suddenly freaked out that i could have got cum on the pad. so i immediately took it out. then i grabbed the first thing in the bathroom (swimsuit), got it wet and started scrubbing myself with it, but didn't penetrate myself. I asked a clinic and they said semen and sperm die when you wash your hands, but i'm a bit worried. is there any possibility of pregnancy? Please Help! Thanks for your time!

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that you did the right thing and that the clinic you called was right. Washing your hands does indeed kill sperm and furthermore it is very unlikely that sperm or semen would have gotten very far on an absorbent, cotton pad. Taking precautions like washing your hands thouroughly is one of the best ways to prevent pregnancy as well as the spread of various STI's. Also, contacting a local clinic was probably the best thing that you did because they could give you an immediate answer and would have been able to provide you with counseling or services if you had needed them. If you ever have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Take care, Scott Gross
