I’m always impressed when young adults look for answers to their sexual questions, rather than making assumptions. What you’re apparently experiencing is aftertaste, like you’ve probably had with certain food &/or beverages. For instance, eating a delicious dish with loads of garlic, onion or fish usually means that a day or 2 later one can still taste the pungent flavor. Drink lots of water to eliminate aftertaste more quickly. What we taste can be affected by physiological and psychological stresses. On the physiological side, what you ate & drank after the episode of swallowing ejaculate can make a big difference. Semen does have a taste, just like any other substance. Taste is a combination of what our tongue & nose experiences. The psychological part is just as important. Few of us receive sex-positive messages about the fluids involved in making love/having sex. If we’d overheard positive things said about semen as often as we have about, say chocolate ice cream, we’d anticipate a delightful experience. If, as mostly happens, we hear jokes & comments implying or saying directly that sexual fluids are yucky & stinky, it’s not surprising that we end up not liking them. Literally, a “bad taste in your mouth.” One more thing you need to know: oral sex without a barrier is not safe[r] sex. Unless your boyfriend’s been tested for HIV it’s a risk taking his semen into your body. To be clear, it is the contact with the mucous membrane of your mouth &/or esophagus that can absorb virus from infected semen. Stomach acid would destroy HIV. Flavored condoms were created especially for safe[r] oral sex with a male. They’ll keep you protected from HIV/STD & you get to pick a taste you enjoy!
