Question:
Hello, I'm 15 and a virgin, and I wanted to know if excessive masturbation can affect the growth and size of my penis. I used to use soap as a lubricant when I masturbated in the shower. After a while I realized I did it too much and it reached a peak where I cut a little bit of skin on my penis while I was masturbating. There wasn't much bleeding (maybe one or two drops) and now it has healed but it has left a scar (it's under my penis) and basically now the skin that replaced it is elevated about 1/10 centimeter lower than the rest of the skin surrounding it. Is this okay? Am I in any trouble? My penis looks pretty normal otherwise but I don't know if I'm in any danger, so please let me know. Is it safe to keep masturbating after I ejaculate? Can too much orgasm harm me other than making me feel tired? Is it true that masturbation causes a much faster ejaculation than when a person is actually having sex with another individual?

Hi: It sounds as if you are very worried about how often you masturbate. You also wanted to know if masturbation can affect the size of your penis. As you grow and develop, so will your penis. Just as your height, your eye color, and other physical characteristics are genetically predetermined, so is the size of your penis. Since the vagina is a muscle, it will "grasp" the penis when it is inside so you need not worry that you will be too small to please a woman. Masturbating will not change your penis size. If you are masturbating so much that you have cut yourself, perhaps you are over doing it. You also were worried if using soap to masturbate in the shower is a good thing. Soap might be dyring your skin, so try a lubricant that is specifically designed for sexual pleasuring. If masturbating causes pain or if you find you are constantly thinking about masturbating and masturbate several times each and every day, you may be having a problem with sexual compulsivity. This will ultimately interfer with a connected intimate relationship with a partner. Seek help from a counselor with special knowledge about sexual issues. If your penis has a sore or cut on it, please see a doctor. It is better to have it checked out than to worry about it! Take good care of yourself.
