Question:
hi! My boyfriend and I recently got intimate. We didn't have sex, but we had oral and "dry humping" He was naked and I had panties on. I was worried about pregnancy and that's why I kept them on. He then told me that he could ejaculate all over my vagina and I still wouldn't get pregnant. Is that true? I had a hard time believing him so I didn't let him. I'm still curious though. Please help!

Hi and thanks for your question. If you look at some of the other questions that people have asked on this site, you'll realize that you're not alone. We have many, many people asking questions that are very similar to yours. Dr. Konnie McCaffree has answered a very large number of them herself. Sperm (the microscopic tadpolls that live in semen) are very fragile, and they can't swim through clothing. They can't even swim through very thin, sheer panties. They also have a lot of difficulty getting through hair. Essentially, unless the semen is going directly into the vagina, then the sperm are going to have a very, very hard time getting into your fallopian tubes to get you pregnant. What's the bottom line? If you're going to engage in dry humping and other forms of outercourse (which is a very safe and pleasureable form of sex) then make sure that you keep semen away from the opening of the vagina. A protective layer of clothing or a condom will do that as well as having him ejaculate somewhere that's well away from your vulva. Best of luck to you. If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Scott Gross
