Question:
Recently I have noticed that after intercourse (with the use of a condom) I experience and brning sensation. This occurs most often with the use of latex condoms and sometimes results in a bladder infection a couple of days following intercourse. Could i be allergic to latex, and if so, what other options do I have?

Leah, I would suggest you pose this question of Dr. Whipple, who is an expert on women's health issues. I will say that some people are allergic to latex and there are condoms available that are made of alternative (hypo-allergenic) materials. Other causes may be the type of lubrication you are using. If you are relying only on the natural lubrication your body produces, you might want to consider "assisting" it with some lubricant such as Astroglide, Eros Body Glide, etc. Note however that sometimes people have reactions to these substances as well, so it's a good idea to test them and see if they work for you. Finally, one thing this is often overlooked is that even if you use a lubricant, it may be necessary to replenish the lubricant every so often during intercourse. Sometimes this is overlooked in the "heat of the moment". Good luck and do pose this question to the Women's Health experts on this site as well. Best regards, Jack
