Question:
About a half year ago I noticed that i had a big bump(looking like a ripe new pimple that is still under the skin) at the base of my penis. There were alot of little bumps around and along the shaft which would appear and then eventually dry up. The larger bump would be tense and sore like a pimple at first, but eventually it went down with no pain but was still noticable. Just last week it appeared again but aseems alot bigger and looks like a red pimple that should be popped. It does hurt when rubbed against or touched. Is this herepes? Genetal warts? or a Pimple? What should i do?

The bump you describe could be a herpes sore or just a pimple. Herpes is a viral infection that causes painful, reddish bumps, sores, or lesions on the penis or genital area. These bumps may be tender and itchy, and become blisters or sores that fill with pus and break. To be sure whether or not this bump is herpes or a pimple, pay a visit to a physician to be examined. Make sure that you use condoms when having sex with your girlfriend as well. A condom prevents the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Furthermore, if you do have herpes, it is a good idea for your girlfriend to get tested as well. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network.
