Question:
I've been married for 13 years, and have always had incredible sex with my husband. For about 3 months now though, I've noticed pain around my clitoris during my orgasm. My ob/gyn examined me, and found nothing, and told me it may be in my head! It is NOT in my head! I love sex and look forward to having an orgasm. Before this, I masturbated once or twice a week, and had sex with my husband at least that often. I have always been able to achieve orgasm until now, I'm holding back because I don't want to experience this pain. A friend suggested it might be endomitriosis or something. What do you think? Would endomitriosis cause pain in my clit? Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your question. I sent it to Dr. Beverly Whipple as she has more experience in this area. Here is here reply: You are right, it is NOT in your head. There are a number of women who experience genital pain. There are a number of diagnosis, one of which is vulvadynia. I would look for a physican who specializes in treating this. There are also new research findings coming out about genital pain disorders. It does not sound like enometriosis. Please see a gyecologist who specializes in sexual health and be sure that they know about sexual/genital pain disorders before you make an appointment. Good luck and know this pain in not in your head.
