Question:
I had an hernia operation when I was 12. When I recovered, I wanted to take a shower and sa that I have only one testicle left. This was like a shock for me, I never asked my mother why do I had only one testicle left. I thought that when you make a hernia operation it doesn't get a testicle out. The question is: the fact that I have only one testicle will affect my penis growth in length, width? What length has a normal penis got? Will the sexual act length reduce? Am I gonna ejaculate quicker because I have one testicle.

I really need and expert replya as I quite got obssesed with this. What am I gonna tell my girlfreind when she sees it?

Thank you for listening. I really appreciate it.

It is unusual that they need to take a testicle out for a hernia operation but perhaps the testicle got strangled and was damaged by the hernia. This is unfortunate but luckily you can function as well with one testicle. The one testicle should work to produce enough testosterone to support normal growth of you penis and enough sperm for you to have children someday. You can ask your doctor, when you get up the courage, to check your testosterone level. If it is low there is testosterone replacement therapy available (at least in the US and other countries). Having one testicle should not make you ejaculate sooner. If you ejaculate quicker then you want then there are techniques you can learn to gain more control. See our men's health channel. As far as what you tell your girlfriend, hopefully by the time you are at that point in a relationship you will be able to talk openly. "Before we take this next step there is something I think you should know so you are not surprised. I only have one testicle. The other was removed when I was 12 because of...Don't worry, I can still function fine and have children someday." If it really bothers you can get a prosthesis (false or fake testicle). Although this is still traumatic for you 4 years after the loss of your testicle, you will see that things will work ok and you will get by this.

Best of luck to you,
Dr. Tepper
