Question:
I can't use my arms to position myself, so I feel locked into a very passive role. I hate asking my partner to make all the moves. How can I become more active in the relationship myself?

People often think of lack of movement, being on the bottom, or even receiving the penis as "passive." When it comes to sex, that is inaccurate. You may be locked into a passive role if you are apathetic, expressionless, passionless, uninterested or contribute no energy to the encounter. You can become more active in the relationship if you are enthusiastic, interested, excited, emotional and passionate. None of these depend on arm function. The ability to tell your partner exactly what you want, need or like, whether in words or moans of delight, is an important and active component of great sex. Mitch Tepper
