Question:
Me and my boyfriend have been together for 2 years we are both eachothers first sex partners and only. Anywho its been some time since we had sex and now everytime we do my vagina is red and sore afterwards. I have a history of freguent yeast infections that he may be giving me as well, i dont know if this is the case that maybe the last one didnt go away right away or something such as a tear. Also what can i do, he refuses to go get checked about the yeast problem. Is there anyother ways to prevent this occurance?

First you need to get examined by a gynecologist to see whether it is an infection or a tear or whatever and to see what causes the infection (if it is that). Since you say you have a history of recurrent yeast infection you already have a reason there why your vagina is red and sore after sex. It is also true that the sex partners keep giving each other whatever infections they harbor - even if one or both of them are free of visible symptoms – and therefore they should preferably see the doctor together and be treated together. The doctor will explore why the infection is recurring (for example, use of hormonal contraception (such as Alesse), antibiotics, presence of diabetes, pregnancy etc. can render the vaginal environment in favorable to yeast growth. Once the root cause is identified, the management of the problem is easy – provided you both take treatment simultaneously and all other precipitating or perpetuating conditions are managed concomitantly.Reviewed by Sexual Health Editorial Team
