Question:
When my girlfriend reaches orgasm she sometimes gets a ringing sensation in her ears then it goes away. It does not happen every time but is of concern. Is this an indication of a bigger underlying problem medically or just a reaction of a good orgasm?

Thank you for contacting Sexualhealth.com for help. Orgasm is known to produce a wide range of involuntary reactions like crying, giggling, and a number of vocal expressions. However, I have not come across a person who experienced ringing in ears at the time of orgasm. Therefore I am not sure whether this is a normal response. If your girl friend experiences the ringing in ears at other times also, I suggest that she should take a neurological consultation to rule out a problem pertaining to the nerves that are responsible for hearing.

In any case I would ecourage you to consult a neurologist or an ENT specialist who also has training in sexology, for investigations and reassurance. You might find one on this site itself or in your locality. You may also seek help of SIECCAN, the Canadian Association for Sex Information and Education, to locate a certified counsellor.
