Question:
For the last week I have been incredibly uncomfortable. My vagina has been hurting as well as itching, all over (mostly outside, but some just inside of the opening). My cum is a chunky white substance, and smells different than it used to. I am sexually active, but I have only been with one person, and he does not have any problems. I really need an answer soon, I am so worried. Please help me.

Thank you for contacting SexualHealth.com. You should see a gynecologist or a skin doctor or a specialist treating sexually transmissible infections, for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Your symptoms appear to be similar to yeast infection of the vagina (candidiasis), or another infection called trichomoniasis and/or bacterial vaginosis. One or more of the symptoms you describe can occur in any of these and other infections. Sometimes more than one infection can occur simultaneously. So, it is wiser to see a doctor ASAP than waiting to see if they subside on their own. Fortunately most infections can be treated efficiently.

Also, please encourage your partner to seek medical help. If an infection is identifed and treatment suggested, please remember that your partner should also take that treatment even if he is free of any symptoms. This is necessary because sexually transmissible infections frequently lie dormant in one partner and keep repeatedly infecting the cured partner. I might add that observing safer sex precautions will help you in future.
