Thanks for taking the time to write in. This has been the subject of much concern for many years. The answer to your question is yes, it is possible for her to get pregnant even while she's having her period. IN fact, it might even have a greater chance if it's at the end, rather than the beginning, of her cycle.

In general, the menstrual cycle lasts from about 21 to 28 days but please remember that the body does not have a precise clock; the cycle could be a little over or a little under her normal number of days. The "period" is the last phase of the cycle, where the body realizes that the ovum will not be fertilized this cycle and sheds the tissue that has built up to prepare for pregnancy (uterine tissue, mucous, sugar water, and a little blood). While the body is getting rid of this build up, it is quite possible that another ovum may already be released and begin it's travel down the fallopian tube. Add to this the fact that sperm can survive and remain viable in the vagina for up to 5 days. So you see, having her period is far from assurance that she won't get pregnant. If you're using protection, it's a good idea to remain consistent and continue to use it even while she's on her period.

I hope this was of some help to you in clearing this up. Good luck and take care. peace
