Question:
If my boyfriend ejaculates into my mouth, how long do the sperm stay alive in my mouth? Are the sperm killed by brushing my teeth, using mouthwash, etc? Or, can the sperm be completely washed away by drinking water or soda? Basically I need to know how long sperm will stay in my mouth? I am worried about touching my mouth and then spreading sperm to my vagina. Thanks.

Well, I'm glad you asked. Now we can get you the answer you need so you can stop worrying and putting stress on your relationship! Sperm can meet up with an egg (in the fallopian tubes) up to 7 days after ejaculation. If sperm is ejaculated outside of the body, one should consider it a pregnancy risk as long as it is wet. As for how long sperm survive in the mouth, without mouthwash, I would say a couple hours. Using mouthwash would kill the sperm, although I am NOT recommending EVER using mouthwash in the vagina to get rid of sperm. Just need to be clear on that one. To be honest though hon, I've NEVER heard or read about a woman becomming pregnant from touching her mouth and then touching her vaginal opening after she performed oral sex. You certainly do not need to worry about this for days afterwords. I would recommend, after ejaculation, using mouthwash, and not touching your vaginal area for a couple hours afterwords. Then you are good to go! So relax and enjoy yourself! Thanks for writing in- Megan Andelloux
