Question:
Hi Doctor. I am a 30 year old male. Some drops of urine remain in my penis after urination which I have consulted with a urologist who performed a bladder, kidney and urine flow test which was fine. He asked me to milk it from the bottom of penis which I'm doing and having no problem but when I am having sex with my wife my concern is after ejaculation there still some semen drops which come out after a minute or two. I just wanted to ask if it normal. We are trying for baby for the last five months but no luck. Can it be an effect by my condition?

Thank you for your question. It is a common question with which many men contend. A bit of semen is quite oftentimes leftover in the urethra after ejaculation. This is normal. Leftover semen can be extracted by squeezing up from the base. If you and your wife are attempting pregnancy, you can squeeze the remaining drops from your penis after intercourse for extra reassurance. However the majority of semen ejaculated contains a great deal of the sperm needed to attempt pregnancy—hundreds of thousands of sperm to be almost exact. Many women get pregnant from just pre-cum.

Considering that you are fully ejaculating into your wife, even minus the few drops leftover, you guys have pretty decent odds. Make sure there are no additional medical circumstances occurring as you continue your journey towards pregnancy. Also remember that the journey needs to contain pleasure and fun. Making a baby can sometimes be stressful, especially if you make love via a schedule for when she is most optimally ovulating. To maintain the element of fun, read up and watch some videos. A popular book these days for getting pregnant is: The Fertility Diet: Groundbreaking Research Reveals Natural Ways to Boost Ovulation and Improve Your Chances of Getting Pregnant, by Chavarro, Willett, and Skerrett.
