Question:
I am a 23 year old woman and am still a virgin. my boyfriend and i have been trying to have sex but it's not happening because everytime he tries to enter me it hurts a lot. he has tried to get me used to it with his fingers and it is painful as he increases the number of fingers he uses though sometimes it isnt. i dont know if my hymen has been broken but even f it hasnt i cant see it being this painful to have sex. also, the last few days after he tried i hav been bleeding very slightly. is that my hymen being torn ? the bleeding has been a sort of mucus...not much blood but some. please help me....i'm afraid i'm unable to have intercourse without severe pain. i have a pretty good threshold of pain and cannot understand why this is not something i can handle. i have had some sexual abuse in my past and am concerned this may be a physcological problem but am not sure. please help me...thank you.

Dear Madam It is customary to have some pains and some difficulties on your first few attempts. This blood may very well me the hymen tearing, yes, and may be you are taking it a little bit slow. So, you did not get it done and over with at one go. Try the following 2-3 times. Make a deal with your bf, you will not try at all any vaginal intercourse. Just some intimate, kiss, hug, etc. On the next week try using some lubricating gel. If this does not work in say, 2 weeks max, visit your doctor for an evaluation.
