Question:
I think I may have a Venereal Disease, but am not sure. I'm 19 and haven't had sex and have been cautious about picking up diseases from public restrooms and the like, but I have some bumps on my scrotum at the base of each hair and these bumps around the ridge of my penis head that have white tips, not unlike a pimple. I've had these for about three years now, possibly longer, I don't remember when I first noticed them or how I could have gotten them. I live along with one parent and thought perhaps I could have caught them from using the same restroom facilities, but have been wary of asking. The bumps themselves don't hurt, they don't cause any pain or discomfort that I have noticed, don't and/or won't pop. I'm rather scared as I have entered my first real relationship where sex will inevitably happen and the fear of not being able to engage in sex scares me. From what I've told you, can you determine what it is I have? I know the best recommendation is to see a physician, but I'm currious.

From what you describe, the bumps on your scrotum are probably a common skin condition known as papules and papules are perfectly harmless. It is, however, difficult to tell what the bumps are exactly without a physical examination. I would recommend that you see a doctor just to make sure that these bumps aren't genital warts. Genital warts can be transmitted via direct skin on skin contact, like grinding, and via contact with infected towels or clothing. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network.
