Question:
Question: I am 22 years old and I have always been thin. I have been having sex with my boyfriend and I have noticed some changes with my appearance. I don't know if I am naturally gaining weight or if it is because I became sexually active. I am also wondering if I can become pregnant if and only when my boyfriend cums inside of me? Can you become pregnant from not "going all the way"?

Thank you for your questions. In terms of the first one in which you have noticed some weight gain and wonder if it is the result of sexual intercourse: Sexual activity does not change one’s physical appearance. However, if you are on birth control pills or using Depo-Provera, please know that some women have been known to gain a few pounds from being on the Pill or Depo. Your second question asks if it is possible to become pregnant without penetration. Ejaculation directly into the vagina is a very effective way to become pregnant (assuming the woman has ovulated and her egg is available). There is some concern when couples don’t go "all the way" and ejaculation takes place just outside her vagina. If sperm are ejaculated close to the vaginal opening, there is a risk of pregnancy as well. If you are concerned about preventing a pregnancy, you may want to make an appointment at your local family planning clinic. Best wishes.
