Question:
On the shaft of my penis there is a lump on one side. It is soft, squishy, and becomes more prominent when I have an erection. I know it's not an STD because I have had it since before I was sexually active. But I am really not sure what it could be. I hope you might have a clue, because I sure don't. Thanks.

Thanks for asking the question. It sounds to me as if this lump you describe is actually some extra tissue, possibly made of fatty tissue or other cells that grew there when you were younger. It doesn't fit any of the descriptions of a sexually transmitted disease, so chances are no one will think about it being one. There are any number of skin lumps that people find on their body throughout life. Yours just happens to be on the penis. They have all kinds of names. If you are interested in knowing more about it, the next time you have a doctor's appointment, ask the doctor to look at it and tell you what it is. It is probably not something you need to worry about. If you continue to be worried, go to any of the experts on the web site who have an MD following their name and the medical doctor may be able to tell you more about it.
