This sounds like a combination of things might be going on. Always be sure you have washed your hands before inserting your fingers inside your girlfriend’s vagina. She coule have a very common vaginal infection that may have nothing to do with your finger penetration. It’s possible that her hymen was torn, but she would have felt discomfort at the time.
You didn’t mention your ages so I’m unsure if she could simply be starting her menstrual periods. If her hymen was torn, the bleeding wouldn’t continue for very long. Sometimes a urinary tract infection can be very painful & blood can be passed with the urine. Because you are both inexperienced, it’s possible that what felt good at the time (or she was too shy to admit was uncomfortable) was actually abrasive to her vagina.
She can have her parent or guardian take her to the doctor without them knowing your sexual experimentation. It’s common for young women to have vaginal infections without any sexual experience. Keep communicating openly & learning together, as this is the most mature, loving way to proceed in any relationship.
Let us know if we can be of further help.Reviewed by: Patricia Fawver Ph.D. in Sexology
