Masturbation is a normal sexual activity for men and women. It is normal to masturbate. There is not a normal or proper number of times to masturbate per week. If you married recently and had not had penile-vaginal intercourse previously, it is not unusual that you would lose an erection. Having vaginal sex with a new partner can be complicated—it takes time to get used to each other. Talk with your wife about how you have sex together. What do you each like? How could things be improved? Also, take more time to enjoy each other sexually before you enter her vaginally. Make sure your body is relaxed and your mind is focused on pleasure—your and hers. In other words, avoid getting preoccupied by worries or thoughts about your penis and erections. If you would like to do some reading about this topic, consider buying the book “Coping with Erectile Dysfunction” by Michael Metz and Barry McCarthy.
