Question:
I recently had intercourse with my girlfriend. It was the first time for both of us, so everything was new. It was painful for her getting my penis in, but eventually it got all the way in. The odd thing is, she didn't bleed, and there was no "popping" feeling that I've heard described. We want to know if it is normal for some women not to bleed the first time. Thanks.

This is normal. It is normal for females to have some discomfort, up to pain in the first few attempts at intercourse, then get used to it. It is also a variety of normal not to bleed, and it is actually rare to 'pop' as you described it.Reviewed by Sexual Health Editorial Team
