Question:
I have recently been diagnosed with
endometriosis. I am 19 and scared. I don't know what to do or where to begin to
get a second opinion. They gave me birth control and pain medicine. None of
it works. I was dignosed maybe the second week in July and in the third my
period came and I couldn't get out of the bed. I need help...
Please help

Dont be scared. There is nothing really serious there. True, it may be
painful, but you can overcome it.
Endometriosis is a relatively common disorder in which the normal layer that
covers the inside of the uterus has been located elsewhere in the body,
usually in the pelvis. This may lead to severe pain with your periods.
The treatment in short lies in a choice between putting you in a
'like-pregnancy' state, or 'like-menopause' state. Both do treat the
condition, pregnancy and menopause. When you are given this treatment for a
period of 6-9 months, the islands of this'layer'-called endometrium, these
islands will die out, but your normal endometrium regenerates, and things
should become much better then.
Because of your young age, a near pregnancy state is more appropriate, and
this is why you were given contraceptive pills. Other modalities may
include Luperone type injections, encouraging you to get pregnant, or some
surgical procedures if you need them.
Hope all will turn well and please keep me updated on your condition.
