Question:
Um, well this might sound kind of dumb. I'll start from the beggining I'm 17 and I've never had sexual intercourse. I've done just about everything but the actual thing. I was just wondering what to expect. I know all about proper birth control methods and everything and my boyfriend and I are ready to have sex but I'm nervous. I just was wondering what to expect.

No question is ever dumb! Every question about sexuality is worthwhile. Never feel like your concerns are unimportant! Every person has a different first sexual experience. This makes it difficult to describe “what to expect”. It’s okay to feel nervous, as long as the nerves are not because you don’t want to have sexual intercourse. If you are not ready, then you should talk to your boyfriend. However, if you are ready (and the two of you have discussed proper safe sex methods, etc.) then it is a different story. There are some females who experience pain the first time they have sex, but this is not true for everyone. Take it slow and only do what you are comfortable with. Thank you for submitting your question. I hope that this information helps.
