Thank you for your question about materials that can be used to overview sexuality with a very diverse population of people having a variety of disabilities! There are two answers to your question about how you can do an overview of sexuality with this diverse group. First of all, you can't!! Can't cover sexuality issues with any group of people in two hours!! Especially if they are people who may have had difficulty accessing basic information for themselves!! Having said that -- I would like to make some suggestions about what you can do! You can lead a group discussion about sexuality using the resources in the bibliography listed in this site. You see -- sexuality education is as much about group process as it is about content. Members will learn from each other -- as they raise questions and issues about which they have concerns. Their sexuality education depends on an understanding of their feelings, of social issues and concerns (privacy, social distance, making friends, greetings, etc.) as well as the physical aspect of sexuality -- the names of their body parts, what they are all about and how to care for their bodies. All of this learning best takes place in an atmosphere that expects and respects questions . . . and that is not possible to cultivate in one short session!! I hope that you can petition the "powers that be" in your agency and urge them to permit you to create a comprehensive program for your clients. This program will include all the things I have mentioned -- and many more. Please let me know how you do!!
