In the extra information you supplied, you mentioned your friend has mild Asperger's and I will also mention that you are a female friend asking. This is for the benefit of others reading this question later on the website. It is a common complaint of Asperger men, that they find it difficult understanding what women want, how to initiate friendships and relationships, and how best to be honest and open, without being inappropriate, offensive or too abrupt. That doesn't mean to say, they cannot overcome these problems. I know a number of Asperger men, happily married. Not all guys have such a caring and helpful female friend to practise on. You can help him enormously with possible scenarios and some scripts for specific occasions if you want to. Many autistic adults have 'scripts' filed away in their heads, ready for use at the appropriate occasion. So if you can help him with basic behaviour that is 'right and wrong' things that are 'public and private' and appropriate touching, as well as what is considered socially acceptable in the area in which you both live, I'm sure he will be very appreciative. Good luck, and if you need any further help, please write again. --- Melissa BEE
