Question:
First time sexual intercourse resulted in excessive bleeding - is this normal?

Answer:
by Yvonne Fulbright:
(06/08/2004)
The first time a woman has sexual intercourse, she may or may not bleed. Likewise, the bleeding may or may not be excessive. If you are concerned, then it would be wise to get checked out by a doctor, especially if you were involved in rough sex or the bleeding has lasted longer than a couple of days. If you are wanting to have sex again, try using lots of lubrication next time. It may be that you were too dry, and therefore some bleeding of the vaginal wall may have taken place. Thank you for visiting the Sexual Health Network. Yvonne K. Fulbright, MS.Ed.
