Question:
I am a 20 year old and have not had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend yet as its too painful. My doctor told me that my hymen was not fully broken yet, I must go for a small operation to remove the remnants of the hymen. Is this a common problem? Do you have any information on this procedure?

Dear Madam thank you for using our service. The hymen is an incomplete thin membrane of tissues that breaks with the first few acts of intercourse. In some cases it is touch enough, or complete enough, not to tear with intercourse. A simple operation is done to remove it. Yes it is fairly simple, may even be done under local anesthesia, although we usually recommend an epidural or even general anaesthisa if you are anxious. Done properly, there are nearly no side effects.
